Sustainable Development Goals and IOI:
Working Towards a Greater Goal
In 2015 the United Nations General Assembly agreed on a series of 17 global goals for 2030. Better known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), their 169 sub-targets cover a range of sustainable development issues, and are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
These 17 Goals build on the successes of the Millennium Development Goals, while including new areas such as climate change, economic inequality, and sustainable consumption and production, among other priorities. One key aspect of these goals is their interconnectivity between disciplines lending an integrated balance and a holistic perspective between the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of human progress.
IOl is fully committed to help achieve these goals. In collaboration with local, regional, and global partners, IOI’s work directly advances the implementation of the SDGs. We aim to engage, educate, and help create global citizens inspired to be part of the solution and continue to contribute towards achieving the SDGs.
